NOVEMBER MEETING RESPONSIBILITY - WHO - ME?? Panel discussion - Fred Field, Moderator Maximum audience participation

For our November meeting we want to go out with an exciting wrap-up for the year 2000. Come prepared (or at least forewarned) to express your opinion and be a part of the meeting and a part of Westcon which is, after all, striving to be "the foremost forum of Bay Area Experts" devoted to improving the art of consulting". And, yes, this is the last meeting of the year. You will not receive another Tribune until the year 2001. You can pre-empt your New Years resolution to come to more meetings right now - enhancing Westcons Christmas gift list for your attendance. If you are interested in being a part of the panel, please call Fred Field at (415) 485-5882 with a brief statement expressing your opinion of responsibility. We have such a diverse range of expertise that there should be many varied opinions on the topic of responsibility. As an example of provocative, baiting opinions to be place before the membership and audience: "sometimes it seems our prime expertise is passing the buck". This is hardly a commendable approach for an expert. Also, as experts, we are reminded that we are NOT advocates. As an architect, I sometimes find this difficult. Times when given a choice in a decision or conclusion, of course, I shall take the more favorable choice or decision for the benefit of my client. This prejudice often moves me to the position of advocate. It is the intention of this presentation to have a number of written opinions to be digested during the dinner in preparation for the discussion. I hope to receive a good number of opinions that we can have for your interaction for our after-dinner presentation. Please take a few minutes to jot down that flash of brilliance and fax it to (415) 457-7173. As a final thought: Each of our members purports expertise in something - not everything - with the concept of collectiveity we do know everything (almost). After the meeting if you feel a desire to express an evasive thought that didnt make it at the meeting, send it in to the Tribune Editor to start our next year.
