February MEETING Moisture Mitigation
of Floor Coverings Presented
By: Bob Ross, Floor Consultant Westcon
member Bob Ross has been involved in the floor covering industry for
over forty years in Canada and the United States. Mr. Ross has traveled
internationally to consult with flooring manufacturers in England,
Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany and Switzerland.
He has also been the recipient of four chapter awards from the Construction
Specification Institute. Moisture
vapor emission and alkaline from concrete subfloors have been the
nemesis of the floor covering industry for many years. Mr. Ross will discuss and explain the many types of moisture
emission retardant systems available on the market today and He will
also discuss the appropriate test procedures. In addition to being a Flooring Consultant, Mr. Ross provides technical support for Sealflex Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of moisture retardant flooring systems in the State of California. Sealflex Industries has created proven products that allow flooring contractors a method of installation when the moisture content of the floor exceeds the recommended water content. Having been in the practice for such a long time, Mr. Ross will be presenting many examples of floor covering installation failures due to moistureemission. This is a great opportunity to bring your questions about a common and recurring problem in the industry. Mr.
Ross is a committee member of ASTM F 6 Resilient Flooring and ASTM
F 13 Safe Walking Surfaces, and a registered provider for the American
Institute of Architects Continuing Education System. |
