Plumbing–Problems and Solutions
Presented By: Mark C. Hunter, Benecia Plumbing, Inc.

This month's meeting will be a presentation on some of the current problems facing the plumbing and residential construction industry regarding domestic water piping. There are numerous forms and types of corrosion, that will cause leaks or deterioration of piping systems. Mark Hunter of Benecia Plumbing, Inc. will present some compelling video footage showing the inside of copper water pipes that are corroding.

Mr. Hunter will illustrate some of the problems that can occur on both the inside and outside of water piping that can cause leaks. Mr. Hunter will also address one of the alternatives to copper for domestic water piping. The material known as Cross–Linked Polyethlene is gaining acceptance and usage in the Bay Area and will be discussed. Mark Hunter is a Westcon member who has twenty–three years of experience in the local plumbing industry. Mr. Hunter is a licensed Plumbing Contractor and has held his California license since 1985. He is currently employed by Benicia Plumbing, Inc. and has been employed there for over twelve years in several management capacities.

His work as the head mechanical consultant in the project involving the East Bay Municipal Utility District and "Blue Water" in the Danville and Hercules areas during 1989 and 1990 helped establish him as an expert in the plumbing field. His current position with Benicia Plumbing, Inc. is as a full time construction defect consultant for plumbing where he is presently retained on over thirty–five active cases.

The Presentation will cover:

  • Installation techniques
  • Water Quality
