April MEETING

A New Tool For Organizing Investigations

Presented By: Frank Arms, Richard Talbott

and Scott Burke, Docu Tec

Have you ever wondered what a photograph your expert witness presented had to do with your construction case? Have you noticed quizzical looks on the faces of opposing counsel, the judge, or even worse, the insurance adjuster?

Have you ever struggled while on a witness stand or in a deposition to find the documents you were asked to present?

Have you ever wanted to find a document years after your project with no easy way to trace the "lost" information?

A new computerized "virtual construction model" conceived by Oakland-based Docu-Tec, displays your information in graphically related, three-dimensional renderings that demonstrated how each piece of information fits together with the whole.

The virtual model displays architectural renderings of the over-all structure and each interior space of investigation. Enlargements of areas damaged or areas with design questions are viewable through drop-down menus or mouse touches. Another mouse click displays the "Original" or "corrected" condition, followed by actual bids for suggested work or what, how, where or why of a construction project.

Frank Arms, Richard Talbott, and Scott Burke of Docu Tec will focus on the ease of using the complex technology behind these cutting edge presentations: a CAD system combined with a state of the art database and the power of HTML programming. The result is an inexpensive way to combine three powerful elements of the computer age to provide a simple, user friendly program.

The presentation will include examples of finished reports and photographs of expert witnesses in the field, architectural modeling of the property or building site of the investigation and all information relating to the particular investigation. The information is bundled and bound into a three dimensional graphic dynamic and fully relational "web site" like display, presented as a ready-to-play DVD with no more software required than an internet browser and no more technical expertise required than the ability to go "on-line".

Docu Tec is available today as a document retention,  retrieval, and display service for construction related evidence, and can be tailored to testimony requirements. Expert investigation and testimony using the Docu Tec system is also available by reference from the Docu Tec Team.
