APRILMEETING Construction Defects and Mold
Liability Risk Management Tactics For Contractors
and Design Professionals Richard Gibson is the Senior Vice President with Dealey Renton & Associates
in the Oakland office. He will be presenting an overview of what is
happening in the current insurance marketplace for both contractors
and design professionals. (Mr. Gibson is hoping to be accompanied by
an attorney he is associated with who defends architects and engineers
in construction cases.) Mr. Gibson will also discuss why liability coverage
is now so difficult and expensive to obtain and new laws which impact
construction and design professionals in California. He will also go over common problems seen with certain building
materials, design problems, installation procedures and building owner
maintenance responsibilities. Mr. Gibson will examine some insurance coverage problems
and review some possible remedies. The presentation will include some procedural and contract
tactics and strategies that contractors and design professionals can
implement to avoid or mitigate these types of claims. Dealey Renton is the largest independent broker serving the insurance needs
of professionals in California. They design management practices to
safeguard a company’s reputation and help resolve disputes before
they turn into claims. Mr. Gibson has been in the insurance industry for over
twenty-five years. He has
arranged all types of insurance coverages (professional and general
liability, etc.), for architectural and engineering firms including
many well known firms in the Bay Area. |
